What We Have Learned and How We Apply It

Many of their students have enjoyed the way Tom and Russ learn from each other as they continue to expand their own perspectives on the system. While both of them provide meaningful and helpful workshops on their own, the interplay of their approaches creates something rich, unique and new.

In this workshop, Tom and Russ will share what they have found most productive and effective in working with the Enneagram through the years. They will each provide teachings, practices and exercises that they have found to be the most potent, and will explore ideas and discoveries that arise from their lively exchanges.

Temperament, Environment and the Patterns That Bind Us

We will delve into the question of “type as temperament” and its shaping by our childhood environment. We see these patterns not as causative of type, but as frequently found patterns that impact adult relationships and self-concepts.

We will look at the ways in which each type learns particular ways of coping with their emotions in an attempt to respond to the demands of their surroundings. We will also examine the ways stress and trauma impact each of the type patterns. This series will be of particular interest and use to those of us in the helping professions as psychotherapists, counselors or coaches.

One of the continuing questions that people have about the Enneagram is “where did this come from? It works so well, but who thought it up?”

Understanding Object Relations basically helps us see that every self-concept is matched with a concept of ‘other,’ and an emotional tone that tends to repeat itself in a pattern.

Healing Relationships Using The Enneagram

One of the most interesting things about the Enneagram is the way that it looks at things triadically–in groups of three.

Some of the triads are well-known, such as the triads connected with the three centers: instinctual, feeling, and thinking. Another potent triad called the Harmonic groups is actually one of the most interesting and helpful.

Join me as I explain and explore the Harmonics groups which help us understand how we navigate conflicts and challenges.

The Inner Lines and The Missing Piece

In this Spring workshop, I have partnered with the Minnesota Chapter of the International Enneagram Association and will be guiding you through the unique path of development for each of the types, as mapped by the movements of the inner lines on the Enneagram symbol.

I will also be giving a rare and advanced teaching on the “Missing Piece,” which promotes the missing qualities that finally dissolve Ego in the advanced stages of the spiritual and psychological journey.
