We are continuing our series of new online offerings at RussHudson.com with a new course on the Enneagram and Object Relations. If you have training in the mental health field, you likely can imagine the rich understandings that can come from combining these two systems. For those of you unfamiliar with the concept of Object Relations, it’s a key concept that provides a major, evolving map of the human psyche which has been developed through psychology over the last 80 years.
Understanding Object Relations basically helps us see that every self-concept is matched with a concept of ‘other,’ and an emotional tone that tends to repeat itself in a pattern. This way of looking at the root of things is particularly powerful for understanding our dynamics in relationships and reveals reasons why we tend to keep getting into the same difficulties in our key relationships.
Attachment Theory, another way of looking at these patterns, has emerged from Object Relations in more recent years and sheds additional light on our habitual behaviors and reactions in our relationships. We will explore the relationship between the nine Enneagram points as they illuminate aspects of classic Object Relations Theory, and we will touch on the implications for modern Attachment Theory, paving the way for another class in the future.
If you work with clients or if you simply want to get a better understanding of your own patterns in relationships, you will find this 90-minute exploration well worth your time. Hope to see you there!”
A recording of the course will be made available to all registrants.
